geo frames {a finished quilt}

You guys, I have a finished quilt to share with you today.

The quilt is called Geo Frames and I made it a while ago for Love Patchwork and Quilting magazine (it was featured in issue 35). I so love this combination of bright Cotton and Steel fabrics, light gray background, and bold black frames.

This was definitely not the quickest quilt to make as there were a gazillion y-seams involved. Maddening at first, but pretty doable once I found a good way to approach them :).

I also made a matching /contrasting pillow using dark background and light frames. Pretty fun to see this "reverse" version, isn't it?

finished size: 54" x 71"
fabrics used: Cotton and Steel prints, Kona Silver, Kona Pepper
batting: Warm and White
pattern: LPQ magazine issue 35

back to school, back to work

I must admit, I'm quite enjoying this new back to school routine. I almost forgot how much one can accomplish in just a few quiet, uninterrupted hours each day :).

Screen printing is my absolute favorite thing to do these days so I burned a few new screens and printed and printed. Oh, the bliss!!!

These two prints are my most favorite at the moment. I think I'll use the first one to make myself a tote bag and those scattered triangles will be perfect for quilting.

I listed tons of new panels in my etsy shop in case you're interested in grabbing a few.

mini locker emergency kit

Hello friends, hope you're all having a lovely week so far.

My kids went back to school yesterday and the house is suddenly so quiet during the day. It's just me and the cats but we don't complain. They sleep and I work, and the three of us quite enjoy these few precious hours of no interruptions :). I've been doing a lot of screen printing and I'm super excited to show you some new designs soon.

Today though, I'd like to show you these fun mini locker emergency kits I made for my girls.

I followed my mini quilted pouch tutorial to make this adorable pouch (only I didn't quilt it because I didn't feel like it, I used SF101 interfacing instead) and filled it up with tiny scissors, bandages, bobby pins, and other "essentials" a teen girl might need.

I made a second mini pouch for my other daughter, of course. This super adorable travel fabric from Les Fleurs collection is my absolute favorite at the moment. I keep thinking I need a striped tote bag just like the one pictured :).

And then I got a request for an octopus pencil pouch. Cute, isn't it? I adhered fusible fleece to exterior fabric (from an older Cotton and Steel collection) to make it nice and sturdy. I loved how quickly this pouch came together and my daughter loved that I didn't make it all patchworky :).

How about you? Are you doing any back to school sewing?

patchwork drawstring bag kits

Happy Sunday, friends!

I just wanted to pop in real quick and let you know I listed a few Patchwork Drawstring Bag kits in my etsy shop

Each kit contains 56 - 2.5" screen printed squares for the exterior plus batting, lining, casing, ribbon, as well as four pages of full color step by step instructions.

Hope you'll enjoy making these bags as much as I do :).

Oh, and the kits are now available internationally as well.

Wishing you all a lovely rest of the weekend. Svetlana

thirty three easy to follow zipper pouch tutorials

 Hello everyone, happy Monday!

Did you have a nice weekend? I hope you got to spend some quality time with pretty stacks of fabric.
I did a bit of sewing, and printing, but mostly I browsed Pinterest until I felt my eyeballs were going to pop out :).

Thankfully though it wasn't just mindless pinning of everything and anything as it tends to happen when I'm on Pinterest. This time I was on a mission! It was all about zipper pouches and free tutorials on how to make them. And now I have a beautiful gallery of thirty three easy to follow, super fun, and absolutely free zipper pouch tutorials to share with you.
