installing zipper closure in a pillow cover {tutorial}

It took a little longer than I thought, but I'm happy to say that I finally finished a tutorial showing you how I do zipper closures for my throw pillows. A little disclaimer here : this is just my own way of doing it, I'm definitely not claiming this to be the only, or the best way. Let's start, shall we? All the instructions are for a 16" square pillow, but they could very easily be adjusted for any other size. I used this same method for my larger square as well as rectangular pillows with great success. You will need: one fat quarter of fabric of your choice one 16" or larger zipper (I prefer using an 18" zipper as having a longer zipper makes installing it easier) From your fabric, cut 1 rectangle measuring 9" x 16", and 1 rectangle measuring 12" x 16". Hello lovelies, happy Friday to you all! What strange times we're living in, aren't we? We've been practicing social isolation in order to help flatten the curve this whole week and are expecting to keep doing it for the next couple of weeks. quiet scrap eater {all finished}

I started this little quilt one afternoon a few days back completely on a whim, as I was trying to avoid thinking about what to make for dinner :). And, before I knew it, I dumped my scrap buckets on the floor and started sorting - I wanted to use only low volume prints but once I made a few blocks I decided some additional color would bring more interest to the finished quilt. Just like with my Scrap Eater quilt, I followed this tutorial to make my blocks. I very highly recommend you give it a try if you want to use up some of your scraps in quite a short period of time. Every time I make these blocks I'm amazed at how quickly they come together. I was originally planning on making a lap sized quilt but once I made 13 blocks I was done. I decided to do a 3 x 4 layout and added strips of fabric to the sides to make the finished quilt a little wider (my blocks were 12.5" square before sewing them together).
