... all finished :).
I'm really glad I talked myself into not using my usual white or gray solid fabric. Instead I went with Kona Parchment and I absolutely love how it lets all the navy prints shine.
I used polyester batting I had on hand and I'm still deciding on whether
it was a good choice or not. I quite like the poofy, super soft texture
it gave the finished quilt, but all that loft proved to be quite tricky
when it came to quilting. I think I'll save the rest of my poly batting
for tied quilts and little poofy comforters :).
I worried a bit about stripe overload when I decided to go with striped backing as well as binding, but I think it kind of works here. Wouldn't you agree?
Svetlana
It is absolutely gorgeous! Love the colors and the quilting is perfect.
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt so much I want to make a girl version just like it. Thanks for the info on the poofy batting...With my skill level....I think I will stick with cotton. Yours looks so comfy tho.....Wonderful quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt! And I think the stripes work great. What a fun one to curl up in. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's such a striking quilt, Svetlana! Love the fabrics with the Kona Parchment.
ReplyDeletenice job. Love the binding. Isn't it nice when the result seems to be more than the sum of the parts?
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful and your creativity inspirational. I have a 10-year old grandson who would welcome a larger version in a similar color scheme and design. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThe navy/white in combination with the Kona Parchment is stunning!
ReplyDeleteThis is so lovely. I really like the simplicity of the colors and the precise piecing of the squares.
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree! Love the navy/parchment combo! Jxo
ReplyDeleteThis is so lovely - good for a baby but also sophisticated enough for a blue loving adult. I've been thinking of doing a red and black simple house quilt and this parchment is so much more lovely than white or even cream. How big is this, it looks perfect. Prefer larger baby quilts for long use!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I've never used Kona Parchment...definitely need to get some. I think the striped binding and backing.
ReplyDeleteWho would have thought parchment and navy would be such a great compliment to each other. I'm sure this isn't the first time someone has used this color combo but I haven't seen it. It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWow! It looks amazing!!! I love everything about this quilt!!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I really like all the graphic prints.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely quilt!!! Thank you for introducing me to the parchment fabric!!! You are right, a great alternative to white and grey!!! Beautiful and the stripes are perfect!!
ReplyDeleteLove it!!! I am loving navy lately, so of course I love this one! Thanks for sharing!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great quilt. I also have been making quilts lately with gray and thinking about using a more creamy or tan background. You are showing me that it could be great. My son wants a quilt with navy and maroon and I'm thinking of avoiding gray this time. My latest quilt also has a striped border and I think they are perfect to frame the final product. I think your striped border also gives the quilt a little whimsical fun that a baby quilt should have. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt. The colors combination and the prints give balance to the quilt and make it unique.
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem with the poly batting. At first I blamed my walking foot, but after I bought a new one I understood that it was not only it to blame. I piece and quilt on a domestic sewing machine. Probably its one of those needle-thread-batting combination that my sewing machine don't like.
I like your stripped border too.
Sorry! "stripped binding" instead "stripped border".
ReplyDeletethis is perfect, like all of your other quilts
ReplyDeleteLovely quilt. I adore the navy fabrics. Can you tell me what size your blocks are?
ReplyDeleteThis is just the cutest baby quilt ever- I absolutely love it!! The navy with the parchment was the perfect choice and the quilting is perfect! Makes me want to sew one right now!!:)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt....
ReplyDeleteOh! I really like it! Congrats! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt, great binding, love the parchment!
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely! Parchment was a great choice with the navy.
ReplyDeleteReally nice - the parchment works so nicely. The stripes all work!
ReplyDeleteI also approve of all those stripes! They look awesome, and the finished quilt is quite sophisticated. Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this quilt. So beautiful. Love the navy theme
ReplyDeleteLove everything about it! It is just calming & beautiful to look at.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great combination of colors!
