You guys, I might have gone "slightly" overboard with my diy adventures this weekend. I made a hammock for our cats :).
It was a pretty easy project, and so very fun. Just two fabrics for top and bottom and a layer of batting all joined together, grommets installed in each corner + chain and S hooks and I was ready to install it under the bench in my sewing room as this is where the kitties spend a lot of time keeping me company each day.
Pretty cool, isn't it? I hope it will get lots of use.
And, in case you feel as crazy as I do and would like to make a hammock for your kitty as well, here's the link to a tutorial I followed.
Wishing you all a super fun day. Svetlana
Great idea, it looks so cozy! I hope the kitties enjoy it. I once made a hammock that hung off the side of my desk for Wilson, but he still much preferred being right on top of what ever I was working on!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea! I absolutely adore it! I think the cat is very happy with your work! :)

ReplyDeleteI love this. We are fur-free at the moment, but our last kitties would have enjoyed it. Not together, but I can imagine one in the hammock and the ornery one trying to sneak beneath it and start the exact same type of sibling harrassment the human siblings do.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! Just wondering if my cat would use it... and what the dogs would think?! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThat is just the best! Is the cat using it?
ReplyDeleteHow cute is that! I hope the cats enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a fun idea, I could see my feline fur child enjoying this if I could find a good spot for it! :)
ReplyDeleteCuteness overload!!! Fun!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea - love it!
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely place for the kittens I am sure they will spend lots of time here
ReplyDeleteAwww this is so cute! I'm sure they'll get plenty of good use out of it :)
ReplyDeleteThis is hysterical!!! Overboard? Not at all.
ReplyDeleteOh, what a darling idea! I don't have anywhere to put one, but if I did, I'd be making one ~ my cats would love it!
ReplyDeleteThat is insanely cute! My kitty likes to get too close to my machine when I am sewing so a hammock could be a great addition to me sewing room! Thanks for sharing the tutorial!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a good idea!!! We have 9 cats, so I guess I better get busy sewing -
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing.
When I was young and single and would travel the world the mothers in the mercados in Mexico would have little hammocks under they're stall tables like this for their infants. I would always crack up when you'd see them walk by the baby and give the hammock a little rock with their foot;)
ReplyDeleteThis is AWESOME! Makes me wonder if I could construct an indoor hammock for myself. Then my cat would be jealous, so I guess I should start with one for him. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteA fun fact regarding the history of hammocks, is that it was none other than Christopher Columbus that first introduced hammocks to Europe. hammock swing
