I have six nephews and nieces and the other day I decided I would make Two in One pouches for each of them for Christmas. And you know what? I did an assembly line marathon sewing on Friday night and a little bit of finishing on Saturday morning and all six of my pouches are done, yay!!
They were super fun to make and I loved pairing adorable novelty prints with colored zippers. I can't even believe I actually had all these zippers on hand. It totally paid off to be a zipper hoarder for once :).
The whole process of making all pouches at once went quite smoothly with me doing each step for every pouch before moving on to the next step.
I started questioning my sanity though when it came to pressing and attaching 24 zipper tabs. I really wished I didn't have to do them, but I knew they'd make a great difference to the final look. And, I think it was time well spent as I adore these beautifully finished zippers.
I got to use more pretty prints for the inside of the pouches. I think next time I'm making these pouches I'll add a few slip pockets to the inside as well. Don't you just love how easy it is to customize pouches to fit one's needs and likes?
Finished size of these pouches is 4 ½” tall x 8 ¼” wide x 1” deep and I used my own pattern to make them (available for purchase here).
Now just to fill them up with lots of little goodies and they'll be good to go.
I can't believe it's only beginning of November and I'm already working on Christmas gifts. Let's hope all this motivation lasts a while and I avoid frantic last minute Christmas sewing this year :).
Have you started any Christmas sewing yet? Svetlana
I'm with you - it's a great time to start the holiday sewing! I love your bags and I already have the pattern. Thanks for the inspiration to get going on my own Christmas gift-making.
ReplyDeleteVery fun! I did that last year for all the women in my family. I love your use of the stripes for the tabs and pouch bottoms!
ReplyDeleteSo many cute prints! I bet that was one heck of an assembly line, great job! I can't decide if I'm doing any Christmas sewing this year. I love homemade gifts but it can be hard to find time to sew a lot, especially for Christmas. :P
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable--perfect niece and nephew gifts!
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous! You are wise to get ahead of the 'Christmas madness'!! Jxo
ReplyDeleteThese look great! What sweet little gifts to give at Christmas. I haven't sewn anything for gifts except as the year goes by I put things aside that I made--but not really for anyone in particular. I did start a Christmas quilt this weekend though!
ReplyDeleteZipper hoarding = good.
ReplyDeleteEach one is delightful Svetlana. You will be the treasured Aunt. I am a Christmas Sewer Want-to-be but sadly it is poorly executed. The days get away from me and I am always left with unfinished projects. Clapping for all of you sewing wizards who can pull it off. Hand made treasures are the best! I sew along at various speeds through out the year and then whatever day or year each gift gets finished, I present the gift. The way I figure, any day can be Christmas day if you are sharing Love! Thanks for sharing your talents. Janita
ReplyDeletepretty and practical pouches seem very popular at the moment must search for a video on how to make one, maybe start with just one zip.
ReplyDeleteI love, love this pattern! I made a bunch last Christmas! And there will be more this year!
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute and what a great idea for gifts!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!! So cute!! You can adopt me as your niece, pretty please??!!
ReplyDeleteI was going to offer to be your niece too....but I see someone else beat me to it. Having said that....I can make a pouch like yours for my nieces! Just plain wonderful post. Your are a fabulous Muse!
