b-r-o-w-n {a finished quilt}


b-r-o-w-n is finished!! And to my great surprise I don't hate it. In fact, I quite like it ;). I like its simplicity and that sort of old - timey feel.


I did simple straight line quilting along each seam line and through the middle of the blocks in hopes that it will draw the eye to the whole chain pattern rather than pinpoint separate 9-patches. I think it worked :)


Funny, last time I talked about not liking brown and orange together in a project and then I went ahead and pieced this backing. Which I like very, very much. I probably like the back even more thank the front :)

Finished size of this quilt is 50" x 61". I think this is a great size for a lap quilt and can't wait to gift it to a very special lady.

    I'm not really a fan of brown. But then I think of chocolate and reconsider. Love your quilt and I'm sure your friend will adore it.

    Yay brown! It looks great. And my eye is definitely drawn to the chain pattern first, so I think you succeeded there as well.

    I like it. I didn't know that brown in quilts was not popular until after I made a brown quilt for my grandson, which we both love. Your quilt is so pretty, and I really like the back too! :)

    I like everything about this quilt - nothing is better than a simple nine-patch, and I find the color scheme pleasing, those browns with the crisp white. The backing gives a little punch, too. Such a nice gift!

    I love your quilt and believe there may be a bit of a brown Renaissance underway (think Pantone's Marsala). Awesome work, and I know your friend will love it!!

    Very cute! I've been hooked on brown since the color for November in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2014 was brown/grey/black. LOVE the back!!!

    I love the simplicity of this quilt. A traditional design that you have made new again. I am inspired to use this pattern to make a red and white quilt. Love the pieced back. I've yet to try that. Thanks for sharing!!

    Well the quilt turned out beautifully... but I'm afraid you still haven't sold me on brown. That doesn't matter though, if it meets the recipient's tastes!
