I have big sewing/ quilting plans for this week. I finally decided it's time to become more serious about FMQ and practice!!!! It's a biggie, I'm telling you. I hate practicing, it always seems like such a waste of time. I know, totally irrational.
So, here's what I've decided. Instead of making small quilt sandwiches for practice only, I made three baby quilt tops and plan on basting them and using those to try out some fun patterns.
This way I will get some practice done, while getting these charity baby quilts finished at the same time. Win win, I hope.
Here they are, all pressed and ready to be basted. And you know what? I'm actually kind of excited about this new learning experience. I will definitely let you know how it all went.
Also, I wanted to let you know about a new fun blog hop my friend Heidi started today.
It's all about desks and study/ work spaces and how to make them prettier and better organized. I'm so excited to be a part of this blog hop and thought I'd share a little sneak peek of what I'm working on.
Here's the schedule for the blog hop. Oh, and there will be some giveaways, too :)

Definitely a win win in my book! Enjoy the practice. I look forward to seeing how sweet they look when you finish! Don't you love a week with lots of quilty plans? I sure do!
ReplyDeleteI think it is an excellent idea ! I have always tried out new techniques on actual quilts and never practice sandwiches ! The way I see it, 99 % of the quilts I make, are made to be USED, not judged ! I have had many quilts leave my house that I could point out at least 10 mistakes on , but you know what ? The recipients have NEVER noticed them ! Use the galloping horse rule ! If you could not see it from the back of a galloping horse ... it doesn't matter !
ReplyDeleteYou could also make 12 inch quilt sandwiches to practice with & then sew them together ala quilt as you go to make charity quilts - especially if those baby quilts are too big for practicing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for getting in that practice time! I really need to do the same...
ReplyDeleteI love your sneak peek -- can't wait to see the rest! :)
The practice sounds a lot more like fun when you put it that way:) The quilts are pretty and I can't wait to see what designs you come up with for your fmq.
ReplyDeletePS. I love blog hops and this one sounds like a great one!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about practicing. I like your idea to make baby quilts. I might do that too.
ReplyDeleteI love your idea to practice on baby quilts! I need to do some practicing too--and that is a perfect idea!
ReplyDeletesliczne kolory!
ReplyDeletePozdrawiam!
They say practise makes perfect - but then I tell my students that perfection doesn't exist, so just have a shed load of fun trying! Jxo
ReplyDeleteI feel the same about practising! Why can't I be good at it straight off?! Perfectionist too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I'm excited to see how these turn out :)
ReplyDeleteOh I hate practising too! But still, at least you can gift the results :o)
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of whole cloth quilts to practice on. Waste not want not ;)
