this week ....

Sewing, sewing, sewing (and a lot of ripping and re-sewing) !!! That's what I've been doing last couple of days. I even tackled some of my WIPs that were sitting idly for a while.

I so love this quilt top. The pattern is Busy kid by Allison (Cluck cluck sew). It's well written with pictures to guide one along the way. But, since I decided NOT TO READ the directions I ended up spending much more time than was needed on this quilt top. I sewed blocks together in wrong order and the whole quilt looked so awfully chaotic. I had to rip and re - sew so many times.

Now that it's finished I'm really glad I persevered because I truly love how it turned out. If only I could decide how to quilt this bundle of brightness.... Oh, well, one step at a time.

Here's a little peek at another project I've been working on. Dense quilting on a wonderfully bright cotton fabric - this picture makes me so very happy.

How is your summer sewing going? Do tell!

  1. I've always like that Bizzy Kid pattern. Yours looks great. Sorry that it involved sewing and ripping and re-sewing though!

I'm curious about your sneak peek there - I love dense quilting.

  3. I LOVE dense quilting, especially after it has been laundered. I bought a new machine with larger harp to do more machine quilting but sent it back today, the tension would not hold bummer. Will keep looking. Limited resources so will start looking for used machines now. So enjoy your work! Coco

  4. Gorgeous quilting lines! I have not yet quilted so densely -- I've usually procrastinated on finishing the item for someone -- and I am anxious to try it when I leave myself enough time!

  5. Your Busy Kid quilt looks great! Seam-ripping and cutting thread tails once the quilt is done are my two least favorite parts of sewing.

Those straight lines are unbelievably perfect! I wonder what it is???

  8. Love the dense quilting and will be anxious to see what it really is.

I have been playing with hexies this summer. Little 1" hexies. It's been so much fun! A good chance to get into all of my fabric stash and use some of it.

Great job on the Busy Kid quilt!
