I've been finishing my Farmer's Wife quilt for the last few days. No, no!! I didn't make 40 blocks in one week to have all 83 that I needed. In fact, I didn't make any new blocks at all. Working on this quilt stopped being enjoyable and became a real drag. I have plans for many other quilts, pillows, bags, and pouches. But the thought of having an unfinished quilt made it impossible to concentrate on anything else. It seems like I am a "one quilt girl". So, I will try to stick with one manageable quilt and a few smaller projects in the future. Live and learn, hopefully.
I decided to use 42 of my already finished blocks and join them with 2.5 inches wide white sashing. I love how nice and modern white looks and it helps all the blocks to stand out.
Now on to finishing the border to bring it to the right size, basting, and binding. Can't wait to see it all finished. Yay!!!
Have you been working on Farmer's Wife quilt? How are you doing? I'd love to hear from you and see your finished blocks.
Enjoy your day, Svetlana
I love how they pop against the white. I am not sure how far I am going to go with these blocks either.

I love the white sashing! Definitely agree that if you weren't excited about it anymore ending it was the right move. Your quilt is going to look great!
ReplyDeleteI love the white dashing. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHiya! I have tried my first Farmer's Wife block last night, and it didn't turn out as badly as I expected, although the block probably won't be usable...We actually made a 12 inch block from the Quilter's Cache after making the smaller block, and it turned out perfect. Well, close to perfect:) I'm not sure we'll be able to piece accurately enough for the smaller blocks. I like the white sashing a lot. It looks great! I mean really great!!! It's probably my favorite quilt I've seen in blogland. I also like the plus quilt...I am thinking maybe I will make one for my bed using some grown up colors (pink, cream, brown, Amy Butler prints mainly). It looks like it would come together really quickly.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are the best. Thanks for all the wonderful comments.
ReplyDeleteI love how your quilt turned out! I am glad you finished it off if it was no longer fun.
ReplyDeleteThough you no longer enjoyed the Farmers blocks, the ones you did put together are great. You should congratulate yourself! And the finished top really is pretty. The sashing showcases the blocks.
