PRESTON LAPTOP CASE (new pdf pattern + sale)

 Hello lovelies,

how are you all doing? We've been enjoying some gloriously warm and sunny weather here in the Netherlands, I hope it stays this way for a while.

Over the last few weeks I've been working on my newest pattern and I'm excited to introduce Preston Laptop case to you today!

I've been getting lots of requests for a laptop case from you guys for some time and I hope you will love it as much as I do.

You can choose between two options - with or without handles, and the pattern comes in FOUR different sizes to fit most of the standard laptops and/or tablets.

Additionally, I provided a FORMULA on how to calculate your own measurements for a custom case if the given sizes don't match your device accurately.

I used foam interfacing to give the cases lovely structure and to provide protection for one's device. I love how wonderfully squishy they are 😊.

I know these cases will get lots of use so I went with heavier duty zippers for these cuties. I like to use either #4.5 bagmaking zippers (purchased from Zipit on Etsy) or #5 zipper by the yard/meter (purchased from Zipper Valley). A standard #3 nylon zipper will work as well, so you can definitely use it if that's all you have on hand.

The pattern comes both in imperial (inches) and metric (centimeters) measurements for your convenience. Here's some additional info for you, check out my Etsy listing for all the measurements in cm.

What do you say? Would you like to make a case for your own device? You can get this pattern at a 25% OFF INTRODUCTORY PRICE now through Thursday, May 19 (midnight CEST, Amsterdam time).

You can purchase the pattern from my Etsy shop here or by clicking on the button below.

SHETLAND QUILTED POUCH (new pdf pattern)

Welcome, everyone!

I'm excited to introduce my new sewing pattern to you today 😊.

This is Shetland Quilted Pouch, a wonderfully sturdy pouch that easily stands on its own and features a zipper closure and a handy slip pocket on the inside.

I wanted to design a patchwork pouch to be able to use up some of my favorite scraps of fabric for quite some time and I'm very happy with how these cuties turned out. What do you think?

This pouch comes in two sizes. The small one is great to be used as a pencil case, make up bag, or a toiletry bag. The large one would make a lovely project bag or a travel pouch.

FINISHED SIZE (wide on bottom x tall x deep) :
SMALL -  6'' x 5'' x 2''  (16cm x 12cm x 5cm)
        LARGE -  6 1/2'' x 8 1/4'' x 2 1/2''  (17cm x 21cm x 6cm)

And because I love to be able to offer options with my patterns, I included instructions on how to use both metal as well as nylon zippers.

Plus, you can totally make this pouch using just one fabric if you wish. See? All you need to do is cut the exterior panels the same size as your lining ones and continue using the instruction provided in the pattern to make a non-patchwork version of this pouch. Super easy, isn't it?

What do you say? Would you like to make a Shetland Pouch (or 5 😁) of your own?

You can now get the pattern at a 25% off introductory price (sale ends Friday, Feb.11th).

HOW TO SHORTEN A NYLON ZIPPER (a video tutorial)

 Hello lovely makers,

today I'd like to talk about zippers. Specifically nylon zippers.

You might have noticed that I really like using metal zippers in my projects but recently I started to appreciate the ease of working with nylon zippers and the incredible array of colors they come in.

I usually buy standard #3 craft nylon zippers (the ones available at pretty much any craft store). I went back and forth on what length of zippers I wanted to get but once I realized how easy it is to cut these zippers down to the exact size that's needed for the projects I decided to purchase 12'' long zippers to be used in pouches and 20'' long zippers for bags and pillows.

These are my Norfolk Pouches (the pattern comes with metal zipper instructions but I adjusted them to use these lovely nylon zippers instead) . I love the pop of color these zippers add to the finished pouches and I also love how easy these zippers are to open and close which makes them a great choice for when making pouches for children, I think.

What do you say? Are you ready to give these zippers a try? I recorded a detailed video on how to shorten the zippers and add fabric tabs for a professional looking finish. I hope you'll find it useful.

Happy sewing, friends!

CUMBRIA TOTE BAG (new pdf sewing pattern)

Hello lovely makers,

how are you all doing? Has fall arrived to where you live? We've had some cool, quite autumn-y weather last few days and it felt absolutely amazing. I'm definitely ready for some sweater weather 😀.

And today I'm happy to share my brand new bag pattern, Cumbria Tote Bag!

I love the two print exterior of these totes but I especially love the inner zipper pocket divider.

What do you guys think? Pretty handy, isn't it?

Of course there's an additional zipper pocket and a slip pocket for an added convenience 😀.

I made so many of these totes over the last few weeks and I love all the possibilities when it comes to combining fabrics together. I sometimes like to use prints that match, other times I prefer them to clash a bit.

The large bag finishes at 13'' wide on bottom x 12'' tall x 5'' deep and it can fit a ton.

The small bag is 10'' wide on bottom x 9'' tall x 4'' deep and it makes a lovely everyday tote or it would also work well as a project bag.

+  +  +  +  +  +  +

And now I'm excited to show you the fabulous tote bags my amazingly talented pattern testers created. Ready? Here we go!

My wonderful friend Ingrid @inghelhoe sewed up these two beautiful totes. Such gorgeous makes! I love that Ingrid upcycled her zippers as well as the denim she used. Such a clever idea.

This beauty was created by super talented Priscilla @cottonstitchca. She's a master at working with beautiful prints and check out that amazing zipper! Absolutely stunning!

And how pretty are these two totes sewn by Fani @faninoulika. I love that Fani played with a different placement of the handles to make these beautiful totes.

+  +  +  +  +  +  +

As usual, I'm offering this brand new pattern at a 25% off discounted introductory price for the next few days (offer ends Saturday, Oct. 2nd midnight CEST). No coupon needed, price is already adjusted.

AURORA CLUTCH (new pdf pattern)

Hello friends, I'm excited to introduce my newest pdf pattern to you today!

Aurora Clutch is a perfect everyday wallet/ clutch and comes in two different sizes.

Small size: approx. 4'' tall x 7 1/4'' wide when closed

Large size: approx. 4 1/2'' tall x 8 1/2'' wide when closed

My most favorite thing about this clutch are the card slots on the inside. I love having a special place for my bank cards and an ID. The small size features three card slots, and the large one four.

I also like the wonderfully roomy front slip pocket which is great for receipts but can also keep one's glasses or even some phones safely inside.

The clutch also features a super handy zipper pocket on the back, a perfect place for cash, keys, or some other smaller items we need to carry with us.

And, there's the addition of an optional removable wrist strap as it's always nice to have choices 😁.

+  +  +  +  +

As usual, I had some super talented makers test the pattern for me and I'm excited to show off their beautiful clutches. Enjoy!

My wonderful friend and a super talented sewist / knitter Ingrid @inghelhoe sewed up this beautiful set of clutches.

These beauties in gorgeous Rifle & Co print and Essex linen were sewn by the amazing Priscilla @cottonstitchca who also sells lots of her stunning makes.

Alexis @hughesam416 sewed up this sweet clutch, and check out that lining! So, so fun!

Last, but definitely not least, we have this pretty clutch sewn by Rebekah @bekahomekah. Love the bright green solid combined with the dainty flowers.

Tiny Foldover Pouch (free YouTube video)

 Hello friends,

today I'd like to share a super adorable little pouch I designed for my YouTube channel

I think these Tiny Foldover Pouches are absolutely precious. They finish at approx. 3'' wide x 3 1/4'' tall x 1'' deep and are just the right size to keep one's earbuds or small sewing notions and tools. Or, it could be used as a nice little coin pouch.

To make one of these cuties you will need two panels of quilting cotton for the *exterior, two panels for the lining, and two panels of interfacing (I used Pellon SF101). Each panel is 5'' wide and 6'' tall (13cm wide x 15cm tall). Oh, and the 3 1/2'' long ribbon or leather lace and a button.

*use non-directional print for the exterior

You can find instructions and a full video on how to make these pouches on my YouTube channel, just click here.

I hope you'll enjoy making (and using) these sweet little cuties.

Wishing you all a happy and creative day. Svetlana
