star baby quilt

Hi friends, happy 2016 to you all!!!

Is your new year off to a good start? I hope it is. Ours has been rocky, not at all what I have imagined, as it included a very serious health emergency and hospital stay for one of my kids. Life can sometimes seriously stink, don't you think?

And thus sewing time has been pretty hard to come by. I do, however, need to sew and make things on a regular basis to keep my sanity intact, so I found little bits of time here and there to make this super simple baby quilt.

I used a tutorial by Amy Smart. It was such an easy and quick little quilt, and I loved that the pattern was written for 10" squares as I had quite a few of those already cut out and waiting for just the right project.

Plus, I'm quite smitten with all the striking one block quilts that seem to be all the rage these days.

How about you? What have you been up to? Any fun projects in the making?

Wishing you all a super lovely week. Svetlana

  2. Svetlana, I hope you kiddo is on the mend and home. Isn't it great that getting immersed in a project, even for a few minutes, can give us some breathing space? And what a beautiful result! Here's to a happy and healthy new year for all of you!

  6. Oh gosh, hope everything is ok now and that whatever it was is over now. I love star blocks . This one is a lovely one. Sometimes simple sewing is what's needed to calm the mind. By the way, I'm getting lots of compliments for my Jenna Tote.

  7. I hope your child is doing better! I love the combination of scrappy low volume and bright pops of color! I think that will always be my favorite, especially when it is done as well as this. :) Thanks for sharing the tutorial, I may have to make something similar to this.

I've been working through my UFO pile and just plugging away at some old projects with the aim of getting them finished this year. I do love your little baby quilt! I also have a fascination for one block quilts. So effective!

  10. Svetlana, I'm sorry to hear that one of your kids wasn't well, I kind of read through the lines that they're okay now and hope that that is the case. I hope that the rest of 2016 will be better for you. (and cute quilt but your health is more important!!)
