Hello, happy Tuesday. How have you all been?
I've been busy unpacking, and organizing, and shopping, and cleaning, and organizing some more :)
The other day though I needed some sewing therapy so I pulled out tons of fabric scraps and made a new cover for my bench cushion. Quite colorful, isn't it? But since it's going to live in my sewing room (yes, yes!!! I'm going to have a sewing room and I'm extremely over the moon excited about that) all this crazy colorfulness is perfectly fine.
It was a fun, super easy project. Just lots of 3.5" squares all joined together and quilted along both sides of each seam. I then wrapped the patchwork around the bench cushion and hand stitched it in place. Probably not the most professional way to do it but it worked like a charm :)
I've also been doing a lot of this.
I actually quite enjoy assembling the furniture, especially when it's a new fabric cabinet.
I love how much fabric I was able to fit into this Ikea cabinet. And, I simply had to take picture of my organized stash because I don't think it will ever be so neat again :)
Hope you all have a very lovely rest of the day. Svetlana
Love your bench….and that new cabinet!
ReplyDeleteDo you mind sharing the name of your cabinet? It looks like a great way to store fabric!
ReplyDeleteYour bench cushion is so pretty!...and that Ikea cabinet with all those colourful fabrics. You are doing very interesting works. I'm visiting often Your sites. Keep on sewing and take care :)
ReplyDeleteLove the bench!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you and your new room!
ReplyDeleteYour bench cover and cabinet are fab! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteLove the cushion! I have an old church pew which has been needing a cushion & cover for some time! Your fabric cupboard is fab! But you did buy a back up for all the extra fabric you will be accumulating, right? Jxo
ReplyDeleteLove the patchwork. I have to cut up my scraps and give it a try. Where did you get the cabinet?! I'm on the hunt for one for my repainted/reorganized (in the process) sewing room. It's fabulous!
ReplyDeletewow! what a beautifully organized stash! I can sooo relate to needing a photo to prove that it was neat at one point in time. (my whole craft room resembles that!)
ReplyDeleteLove the bench cover - its so bright and cheerful and what a stunning addition to your sewing room.
ReplyDeleteSvetlanko, proste paradni!! Jak potah na stolek, tak skrinka plna latek! :) A gratuluji k sicimu pokoji! :) Preji krasne dny! Jola
ReplyDeleteWow - those are two fantastic additions to your sewing room - how fun!
ReplyDeleteLove the patchwork on your bench seat!
ReplyDeleteThat bench cushion is gorgeous -- love all the bright colors together! So excited about your new sewing room. What a joy!
ReplyDeleteI love that cushion and it's super awesome that you're getting sewing room... that's going to be amazing!~
ReplyDeletecabinet is just the job for your fabric stash, well done on making it too. Cover looks good on the bench, 3.5" blocks more appealing to me that 2.5", this has given me an idea, I have a very old stool granny made, she died in 1956, it has a tapestry top that is thread bare in places, think you have inspired me to make a quilted top for it
ReplyDeleteawesome awesome awesome! Kitty's given the seal of approval for the patchworked bench cushion. It's beautiful. Your stash is just delish - even more tempting in a nice cabinet!
ReplyDeleteBoth pieces are great! I can hardly wait to see your sewing room!
ReplyDeleteGotta love the Ikea cabinets for fabric storage! I just did the same when I took over the kids lounge and turned half of it into my sewing room. They didn't seem to be using it much but now that i have bought a nice new tv and gas heater they are congregating in there again!! My fabric has managed to stay fairly tidy. The cabinets make it easier to see what you have. Love your patchwork bench :)
ReplyDeleteYour bench cushion is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI seriously bought two of these cabinets a couple of months ago and haven't put them together yet because I haven't finished my basement yet. Your pictures just make me want to get it done NOW! lol
ReplyDeletefrickin' lovely and cheerful! my bed quilt is like this and always makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect patchwork cushion cover for your sewing room! And I admire your patience, attention to detail, and organization when it comes to putting together that Ikea cabinet--wait, that sounds a lot like quilting:) Enjoy your new room!!!!
ReplyDeleteLovely to see you are starting to get organised in your new space :)
ReplyDeleteThe bench looks great and what a pretty cabinet of fabric!!! I'm so happy you got your own sewing room. Have fun!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the bench and the cat posed on it. I am sure she thinks you made it just for her! Do share the name of your cabinet. I need one!
ReplyDeleteLove your bench! And boy do I need a cabinet to organize!
ReplyDeleteI love how bright and colorful it is and congrats on the new house and sewing room! I think that my sewing room is my chance to use all of the crazy, bright stuff my family doesn't like in the rest of the house.
ReplyDeleteYour cushion is lovely, but the fabric cabinet is stunning!!! xx
