Have you ever made a quilt and you can't decide whether you like it or not? It sounds strange, I know. It's not rocket science to know whether I like something. And I usually do, but with this nine patch quilt I just can't decide.
I used a lot of Denyse Schmidt fabrics which I like very, very much but I might have mixed too many colors together in this one? What do you think?
But then again, all those many colors together seem to give the quilt this lovely vintage scrappy feel. And I like that. See what I mean?
So, for now I decided I kind of like it and I started my new Comma nine patch blocks using much more controlled and limited range of colors for a change. I'll let you know how that goes once I get more blocks finished.
Thanks for stopping by. Svetlana

I've definitely had projects that I didn't totally love, but most of the time they end up growing on me! I personally like your quilt a lot. It will be interesting to see the difference though between this colourful, busy version and a more limited version.
ReplyDeleteI really like it!
ReplyDeleteI love it. Maybe you are just too close to it, you know what I mean?
ReplyDeleteWhat's not to like! I'm a big fan of scrappy and lots of colours going together, so I really like it. It can make a quilt more interesting too as there's more lovely prints to look at and admire! Jxo
ReplyDeleteI like it - I'm not always a fan of a lot of different colors but I think because it's a nine patch it really works nicely - enough places to rest your eyes. Just lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love it!
ReplyDeleteI love it. It'll be charming on a bed with some fun pillows.
ReplyDeletelove it!! My first quilt that I ever made was nine-patch quilt. It is easy to follow and finish up! I love so many DS fabric in this quilt! There are so many candy colors I love!
ReplyDeleteI really like it. I think because you used a nice calming white and the sashing is wide enough, there more than enough calmness to compensate for the busyness of the colours. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteIts perfect, and that DS backing in blue gives it such a bright pop!
ReplyDeleteI really REALLY like it!
ReplyDeleteI like it a lot!!!
ReplyDeleteVery happy and fun!!!
I don't have to think about it....My heart says I really like it! The narrow orange border really makes the simple quilt special!
ReplyDeleteI like it! (but I totally get what you're saying). :)
ReplyDeleteI love it! I can always help you by relieving you of it and giving it a good home ;)
ReplyDeleteI think the white balances the colour well and it is absolutely beautiful.

It looks great.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I love scrappy quilts in general and I think yours is beautiful... I hope it grows on you.
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely. I am a fan of bright colors.
ReplyDeleteI really like it! I think the border makes it. Nice finish!
ReplyDeleteI love it. I think what makes this wirk is the fact that you used a definite pattern (the 9-patch) & the single solid sashing. At least that is how it works for me.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of this. You have used a very organised structure and this gives the quilt a very cohesive feel. It all goes together just right.
ReplyDeleteI like it. ;)
ReplyDeleteI like it - particularly with the orange inner border. I've had projects that I fell out of love with during the process, but I usually like them in the end. I think I've only had one that I didn't like and that was probably because I was using up fabrics I didn't like! Hope this one 'grows' on you :)
ReplyDeleteI love it.I think you did a great job and the fabric choices work perfect together
ReplyDeleteI know just what you mean, I've had that experience of not being quite sure about something I've made. I love the scrappiness of this, but I can see what you're saying about all the colours
ReplyDeleteI think it is fabulous. We often scrutinize our own work more than that of others. I bet you'd love it if you saw it on someone else's blog :-)
ReplyDeleteI love it! The colours work well together, the effect is scrappy but not overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteWell I like it! ;-)
ReplyDeleteSvetlanko, mas pravdu. Obcas hodne barev nedela dobre. Ale tento quilt se mi moc libi, je takovy jarni, vesely... Kdyz si usijes novy mene barevny... budes mit deky na stridani dle momentalni nalady :) Mej krasnou nedeli, Jola
ReplyDeleteWow! I LOVE it a LOT! Maybe put it away for a while, and you'll see it with new eyes when you get it back out?! I think all of the colors together are awesome, but I love the bright and scrappy look. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I like it. It is cheerful, modern and traditional all at once. Give it up for the nine patch.
ReplyDeleteanother Love It vote here. Sometimes working on a piece kind of wears it out in my own eyes, but to fresh eyes I promise that this one is mutli-colored in a good kind of way.
ReplyDeleteI love it! a great balance of color the orange floating border perfect! and its a nine patch quilt, my personal favorite!
