As promised, I'm back to show you what I've been working on lately.
I am so in love with these stuffed toys. I think they are the most adorable thing ever and I don't want to stop making them. They are pretty big, about 12" tall and my children adore them.
I started by making Bean the dog and the only felt I had at home was just a regular, very polyestery dark brown one from Joann. While it's still OK looking, the wool blend felt I bought on etsy from here is just way prettier. That's what I used for the other tree toys. What a difference, right?
I love how perfectly imperfect they look. I found a pattern for the dog, rabbit, and mouse in Kata Golda's book Hand-Stitched Felt. And then my oldest daughter wanted a frog, of course. So, I improvised a little, I think it turned out really cute.
The great thing is that not only are they totally adorable, they are also a great portable hand sewing project. I have a feeling there's a lot more felt animals in my future.
How about you? Does summer change what you work on?
Svetlana
These are really cute. Nice job. I may be in the market to find some portable hand stitching and this might just need to be it.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! They are adorable, I especially love the frog :) I should make something like this for my great niece.
ReplyDeleteOh my, those are way too adorable for words!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the super fun world of felt toy making. Those dollies are SO cute! (the frog's eyes are the best).
ReplyDeleteThis summer has gotten me out of my hand sewn felt toy comfort zone, expanding out to dolls made from quilting cotton (using the sewing machine!).
Love them!
ReplyDeleteI sew constantly, but in the summer I don't get as many orders than I do closer to the hollidays, so I get to wotk on stuff for my home! Just love that!

ReplyDeleteAww, they're very cute! I'd love to make some felt softies, but alas, I'm allergic to wool, and the non wool stuff just isn't as sturdy and hard wearing.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, these are DARLING!!! I love them, Svetlana!!
ReplyDeleteI love these.
ReplyDeleteSeriously adorable! And I already have that book, all I need is some better felt...thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteTotally fun! I definitely go through quilt on and quilt off stages. My cycles seem to last about a month or so. It only makes sense to make what you like!
