Hello, happy Monday!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I spent most of mine folding and organizing stacks of fabric as well as trying to bring some sanity into a small storage room where all my sewing supplies live. It was so out of control, I spent a lot of time lately just digging through piles of fabric instead of sewing. I knew something had to be done.
Many, many hours later, this is what it looks like.
Ooooh, much better. After all that hard work "playtime with scraps" was totally in order. That's where Liberated Quiltmaking 2 book by Gwen Marston came in. It's full of fantastic, modern, and very unique and colorful quilts. The one I was most drawn to was her basket quilt and since now I had all my scraps in one place I was able to just dig in and give it a try. I got quite a few of the blocks done last night. I was pleasantly surprised that once I got the hang of how to stitch the handle on the basket, the blocks came together pretty quickly.
I have not decided on the layout, or even on the number of baskets I want to make. I might just "play" for a while longer and see what comes out of it. What have you been up to this weekend? Do tell.
Svetlana
This basket quilt looks like so much fun! Love your neat fabric stacks. I'm working on a little mini quilt right now, hoping to have it done in a day or two if the kids give me the time to work on it. :)
ReplyDeleteOooh, love your storage area and your new project!
ReplyDeleteThe baskets look great. Funny thing is I just bought the book Collaborative Quilting last Wednesday and I think it's one of the best books ever. I completed my Flora quilt and made 5 granny squares!!!
ReplyDeleteWow...that's a LOT of work! It looks wonderful though and I'm sure you're very relieved to have the order.
ReplyDeletei love how great it feels to clean up! it looks so great and it is inspiring me to do the same! love your baskets!
ReplyDeleteI love that book too! Your baskets are so much fun, I have never tried to make them. I bet this quilt will be wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLots of creating goin' on here.

So great the way you put your colours togethers. I wish if was that easy for me. Maybe I need more fabric! Ha!
ReplyDeleteI've got a similar block pattern in a book on Jelly roll and layer cake quilts - but theirs is a handbag! I've decided to modify it with no handle, and turn it into a vase... and applique some flowers into it. The joy of quilting, you can do whatever you choose. And I'm only a little bit jealous of your fabric storage area :0)
