modern mini quilt challenge

Ever since Jennifer over at Ellison Lane Quilts announced her Modern Mini Quilt Challenge, I knew I wanted to participate. I like making minis, they are wonderful for trying out new techniques or some intricate patterns without a commitment to a large quilt. And, have you seen the prizes? oh my!!! Just fabulous!

Do you remember the abstract mini quilt I made that was based on Yoshiko Jinzengi's amazing modern and minimalist style? Well, that's the quilt I decided to submit.

It looks so simple, yet it took me forever to choose fabrics to use. They are so important, being set into the white background and using just thin strips of white sashing, they really are the stars.

And I'm totally in love with the effect this dense straight line quilting produces, it gives it so much texture and movement. The finished size of this mini is 18" tall and 16" wide.

You can read my original post about this quilt here.

Thanks for stopping by, Svetlana.
