help, please!!!

I have a dilemma. This is my month to put together the quilt for Do. good Stitches Trust Circle. I asked the ladies to make 2 stacked books blocks each, so I have twenty 12" x 12" blocks. And, they are AMAZING!!!! All the blocks look wonderful, so happy, and bright, and scrappy. I absolutely love them all. Thanks, Trust circle ladies.

I started arranging the blocks on my design wall and this is where I need your help. I have 2 layouts, can you help me decide which one to go with?

Layout #1
in this layout I have 3 columns of blocks, 5 blocks in each column. I'd have to use white sashing in between, but I'd have 5 extra blocks to use for the backing.

Layout #2
all 20 blocks used for the front, no sashing. I think I like this one better. I'm just not sure if it's not too much of a good thing.

So, what do you think? I'd love to hear your opinion. Svetlana

  2. I like the first one. It's easier on the eyes.

  3. Personally, I think I would go with the first layout. A little less busy, though I do love these blocks! I also think it would be fun to reserve a few blocks for use on the back.

  4. I think I like the first one too. It's a little less busy. Love the blocks. It would be a great way to use scraps.

  5. I like number 2 but I gravitate toward busier quilts!

  6. I really like (love!) the 2nd one.

  7. They're both great but I like the first one better because 1) having the odd number of stacks balances well and 2) I love the idea of having a few stacks on the back. What a great quilt!

  8. Does it have to be white sashing on #1? I think a solid on both sides of each row would be beautiful and make the colors really pop! If you say "white only" then my vote is for #2.

  9. I like the first one best. You can really appreciate the blocks in it since it's less busy. Great job to all the ladies who contributed!

  10. No sashing. I prefer the shape of the second quilt, the first one looks long and skinny.

  11. I like the second one best, too. I like the stacks being closer together. The second one looks more "complete" somehow.

  12. I really like the second layout more even though it has an even number of rows. It's definitely not too much of a good thing.

  25. I. Like number 1 - let alone books - reminds me of my material all stacked up - although I haven't got quite that much.

  29. I like the first layout. Seems less busy and it really does look like stacked books to me!

  30. I like the first one best...I think the blocks get a little lost in the busier/second one.

  31. Can you tell me which stacked book block you used? I want to do one and can't figure out which one would work best. I love how this came out.
