Yay!! My scrappy baby quilt is finished! This makes it my first finished quilt for 2012. As I mentioned before, it was completely inspired by this quilt made by Nettie at Quilt is nice.
I made the patchwork rectangle using 2.5" squares, some are fussy cut, others are geometric prints. I limited my colors to white, yellow, orange, green, blue, and black. I'm really glad I did, I think it makes it look scrappy, while cohesive at the same time.
I decided to go with bright and happy Kona Azure for the background.
I used green and white polka dot flannel for the backing. I think flannel is wonderful for baby quilts, it's so soft and cuddly.
I did straight line quilting using the matching azure thread. I echo quilted all the patchwork squares and did some more geometric quilting in the "negative" space.
To finish it off, I used black and white striped fabric for the binding.
How about you, how is your 2012 sewing going?
This quilt is available for sale at my Etsy store. Have a wonderful evening, everyone!
