Hello, happy Monday to you all. Did you have a nice weekend? Ours was quite interesting.
On Sunday morning we woke up to 15" of freshly fallen snow which made
everything look so stunningly beautiful, but it also meant we were
snowed in.
And since this was just the beginning because a dangerous blizzard was
still coming our way and everyone was advised to stay inside, we decided to simply enjoy this day and take
things easy.
Taking things easy had to involve some fabric, of course. I cut into this gorgeous Liberty Tana Lawn bundle I received from Westwood Acres (project plus tutorial coming up soon). Did you know there's still time to join their Liberty Tana Lawn Bundle of the Month club? I would definitely recommend it to any Liberty fan.
I also made quite a good progress on knitted socks for my husband. Did I ever tell you I really enjoy knitting socks? Well, I do. A lot. The only slightly strange thing is that I generally dislike wearing socks of any kind, and I absolutely can't stand knitted socks. But thankfully my husband likes them. Let's just say he has enough knitted socks to last him a very, very long time :).
All in all, I quite liked being snowed in. But now I'm ready for things to get back to normal, hopefully schools will reopen tomorrow and we'll be back to our everyday routine.

Hello, I received that same Liberty Lawn fat 8th set and just yesterday I started to sew a pincushion with it. So cute! Beautiful photos of the snow, also.
ReplyDeleteWhen my daughter was in the NICU for 38 days, one of the best things I recieved was a pair of hand knit socks. We had to remove our shoes before entering her pod, and pulling on those socks everyday started to feel like a much needed hug in a stressful time. If your husband's sock drawer reaches its limit, you might consider knitting up a few for some NICU moms at your local hospital.
ReplyDeletethank you so much for this fantastic tip. I will definitely keep it in mind. I had no idea there could be any use for knitted socks at NICU.
DeleteSvetlanko, to jsou nadherne fotky! A pak ta fotecka barevnych latek... uplne me zahrala :) U nas byl vcera skoro jarni den, cely den svitilo nadherne slunicko. Ale dnes pro zmenu od rana snezilo, ale tak krasne u nas opravdu neni. Snih rychle zmizel.
ReplyDeleteSvetlanko, mej krasne dny! Jola
What a beautiful setting. I'm so jealous of your snow and your snow day!
ReplyDeleteI love snow pictures but really not to fond of snow
ReplyDeleteI love a good snow day, but it's been a long time since we've had 15inches of snow! Looks like fun, and sounds like you put your day to good use. Beautiful fabrics!
ReplyDeleteSometimes an enforced lock in is a good thing :o)
ReplyDeleteYour photos bring back memories of the snowstorms and blizzards I lived through during my 30+ years in western New York. It's so beautiful to look at and so nice if you can stay inside until it all melts. Otherwise, there's shoveling and more shoveling after the snowplow comes by - driving on wet roads, trying to fimd parking spaces when all the parking lots haven't been totally cleared of snow. I could go on but won't. I love hand knitted socks - My feet feel like they're getting a massage. I have made a couple pairs and, of course, begun a sock yarn stash. I enjoy your blog!
ReplyDeleteIt just wouldn't be winter without one good snow storm! I love the beauty of fresh fallen snow. We also had a snow storm Saturday and Sunday. Not sure, maybe 10-12 inches. My husband does the snow removal.... I just enjoy the beauty and head to my sewing room. Looks like you were surrounded with lots of sewing comforts on your snow day. Your red and white placemats are the sweetest. Knitting always intrigues me, but I never learned how. I remember praying for snow days as a little girl. I still love a good snow storm as long as I am safe at home. Now if I could just have snow without the cold.... I'd be delighted. Enjoy!

Funny you don't like to wear knitted socks. For some reason, I feel like I MUST learn how to knit a pair of socks. Your snow photos are beautiful. I actually sat outside today for a bit. What? It's only the 2nd of February!
ReplyDeleteWow that's a lot of snow! I am with you on not wearing socks, I can't stand them either.

ReplyDeleteSnow days are always fun! I am addicted to wearing socks and knitting them! Love your photos of the yard. It looks like a little person is waving from the sidewalk ( covered in snow of course)
ReplyDeleteOh such luscious liberty fabrics! Hope you were able to get out a bit today! Jxo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful snowfall! Haven't had much in the way of snow here and now I'm hoping spring is around the corner. I can't wait to see what you make with those liberty prints!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the beautiful snow pics - they'll keep me cool today! The "Alice" Liberty is wonderful, isn't it. Thanks for the sock pic too, I'm knitting my first pair and wasn't sure if I'd started the heel process correctly last night, but my sock looks like yours, so I'm on the right track.
ReplyDeleteI want to be snowed in! Just for a day or so though =) Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteJust once I want to have a snow day. So beautiful and so fun.
