Hello, happy Monday to you all!
I thought we would all be back to our regular routine of school and work as this was supposed to be my kids first day of school this year, but our winter weather decided otherwise.
See, this is our backyard. Beautiful, that's for sure but also very, very cold (wind chill dropped all the way down to -40 degrees!!! today).

Schools are closed and our houses look like queen Elsa from newest Disney movie Frozen came and did some decorating :) Not bad, I say, but it would be quite nice to go out and enjoy all this beauty without freezing in seconds.
So, I decided happy bright fabrics were just the cure for winter blues. Hopefully by the time I finish stitching these epp lozenges together I will actually know what to use them for. I thought of making a pillow at first, but now I'm thinking a tote bag might be a way to go???
I've also made quite a progress on my Tone it Down quilt. I have 12 blocks finished so far but I'm simply not sure how I feel about it right now. I might be getting a little tired of low volume :( Or maybe I just made it too busy? Can low volume be too busy? See? Maybe I just need to get out to clear my head. Let's hope for nicer weather soon :)
Hope you're all staying warm and safe. Svetlana

Man, that is so cold, and beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteThose lozenges would make an awesome bag x
Wow! Stunningly beautiful, but I know the feeling of cabin fever well! Not pleasant. Stay safe, and sane if you can! Jxo
ReplyDeleteYup, sewing is definitely the way to escape! Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteI feel cold just looking at your photos, glad you have a project to keep you occupied while you are stuck inside!
ReplyDeleteIncredible!! It felt a bit nippy here today but not even close to that kind of cold! It does look beautiful. The lozenges look amazing and would be perfect as a tote! I'm loving the tone it down, it looks pixelated! I've been staring at it and it does seem busy but maybe that's the fuzz from staring at it too long!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pics, of everything. We had almost spring-like weather here, 50 degrees, in New England. Supposed to plunge down to the teens tonight. Over the weekend it was negative 5! Drastic changes make for sick people! Keep sharing some beauty of quilty things and icy things, please :-)
ReplyDeleteSvetlanko, jsem rada, ze jste v poradku! U nas se o pocasi ve Statech hodne mluvi. Mate tam teda peknou zimu a snehovou kalamitu! Drzte se a opatrujte se v teple :) Vidis, u nas bylo dnes typicke jarni pocasi. Nejake divne. A krasne pokracujes se sitim :)
ReplyDeleteMejte se krasne, a hlavne: budte v teple :) Papa, Jola
PS: U nas ten film davaji pod nazvem "Ledove kralovstvi" - opravdu nadherna pohadka :)
Ooh, a tote bag could be fun! I really love those lozenges :) your photos are so beautiful, but I can't even imagine the cold! Coldest place I've ever lived is western Washington and that was downright mild compared to your winter wonderland. And now I'm in AZ where a light jacket is enough to make a run to target! Sending warm thoughts your way :)
ReplyDeleteLoving your tone it down quilt! We are freezing here too! Here's to warmer temps soon!
ReplyDeleteyour pictures are very cool. definitely looks like a scene from Disney. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from a hot Tasmanian summer ! Oh my goodness, love those pics of your backyard and the icicles on the house but can't imagine that in 'real life time'. Love that you are staying warm and your lozenge quilt is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI am in love with the low volume. The brights would make a great tote.
ReplyDeleteYour house looks amazing with all those icicles - stay warm :)
ReplyDeleteI think your quilt looks very sweet, and pleasant! It has an more appeal when you stand back from the picture! Thank you for sharing your talent and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL! Both the ice and the EPP :) It would be a gorgeous bag!
ReplyDeleteOh, I really like your quilt. I haven't finished picking out my fabrics for mine yet, but find yours very inspiring! I urge you to keep on your path. Some of the most mind challenging projects can become favorites when they are finished :) Love the idea of a totebag with your EPP. Stay warm!!
ReplyDeleteI love the winter pictures. Both your quilts look amazing and the EPP is especially appealing. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful but I can't imagine that cold! The tone it down quilt is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI really love your Tone it Down quilt! And the EPP looks so fun! Today is another good day to just stay inside and sew ;)
ReplyDeleteI love your Tone it Down quilt! And to answer your question, yes, low volume can definitely be too busy. The eye needs somewhere to rest.
ReplyDeleteKrásné ledové královstvÃ.....
ReplyDeleteAjka
Beautiful photos, still love your EPPs!! I know the feeling of the cold our temperatures here lately are apparently colder than the daily temps on Mars. Weird fact but still interesting.
ReplyDeleteoh those ice photos are amazing! As is your Tone it Down quilt! Love that.
ReplyDeleteI love the Tone it Down as it is! Walk away for a bit, you will like it later :)
ReplyDeleteWow, those icicles mean business! I do like the way your low volume tone it down quilt is looking. Are those all the blocks to it? I like the way it's laid out too. I don't see anything I'd change about it!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness those icicles. Serious problems with insulation (or lack of it) in your attic and not enough air vents on the roof.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt blocks are amazing.
