happy sewing

I've come to realize something the other day: the world is not going to collapse just because not every teacher, friend, and family member gets a handmade Christmas present from me this year. What a revelation, right? It might actually be a better world for my closest family and myself as chances are I will be less stressed and thus less irritable :)

So, I scrapped the rest of my Christmas sewing list and started working on these hexies last night. I have no plan for them right now, I simply worked on them because they made me happy.

What have you been up to these days? Any fun projects you've been working on?

Hope you're all having a really lovely day. Svetlana

  5. These are fun to make...What I like about these hexagones is you can take it with you anywhere you want to. I was happy to have something to work on on my trip to Newfoundland 2 years ago...16-17 hours on a ferry, let's say I made a lot of those...

  8. I've been working on some Christmas-y hexies too! Sometimes you just have to make something because it makes you happy... not necessarily because it has to be done!

  10. I don't even have teacher gifts to make and I get really caught up in the handmade Christmas thing... Such a strange thing. 2 years ago it didn't even occur to me to make my Christmas presents and now I feel like I have to! But I'm doing a bunch of Secret Santas and White Elephants this year so my make list is pretty short :) Good for you for letting yourself relax!

  11. It was so refreshing to read your post! I gave up about 2 weeks ago on the goal of totally finishing quilts for two family members. I finally faced the fact that I would never get them both done. They'll be getting just the tops- gives them something to look forward to in the new year!

  14. What a timely post, Svetlana! Bea and I worked on some handmade gifts for her teachers, but we only have a little more than 1/2 done and I don't think we can get the rest finished on time. Now I am just debating whether to finish them myself tonight, just give1/2 her teachers handmade gifts and the others gift cards, or save them for next year and give everyone gift cards.

    Your hexies are quite lovely!

  17. Life is to short to be stressed over what is supposed to be a fun 'hobby'. Take a deep breath and a warm bath and life will slowly come back into perspective! Have a very blessed Christmas.

  18. Good for you! This is supposed to be fun - not an awful, stress-filled to-do list. Embrace the season and sew just for you.

  19. Svetlanko, nadherne latky! To bude asi nejaky polstarek, ne?
Svetlanko, krasne dny a hlavne bez stresu! :) Jola

  24. You are doing a lot better than I did, I made exactly 1 handmade Christmas gift this year (a mug rug for my daughter's teacher) and bought everything else. The season was so short this year it just wasn't worth it. Love the hexies, can't wait to see what you come up with :)

  25. Same over here. No handmade gifts this whole year. Only for me and my children. Felt mostly good. And was reasonable, too.

  26. Good for you! I gave up the other day and bought some chocolates for last minute gifts. It's just takes so much time making everyone something. Your hexis are wonderful!! Such a fun collection of fabrics.
