Hello, happy Sunday to you all!
My quilting mojo seems to have left me for now. Every time I sit down to sew I want to work on smaller, quicker projects and quilts simply don't do it for me these days :(
I did, however, manage to push through and finish this 16 patch quilt. The combination of aqua, navy, gray, and white, with a touch of black might be my hands down all time favorite color combo.
I used Erica's method to make these quick 16 patch blocks and sashed them with Kona Ash. Oh, I can't even tell you how much I love the old time charm of these blocks.
I decided to go with some simple straight line quilting since I wanted the quilt to be nicely soft and squishy once washed and dried.
What have you been up to? Any fun projects in the making?
This quilt is beautiful! I would never have thought of those colors and they are wonderful together. Never apologize about wanting to work on smaller projects. Your pieces are beautiful...big and small! Love to see them all!
ReplyDeleteOh very. I'm working on a flag quilt, with all the beautiful flags of the Scandinavian countries. It's all pieced and such, now there's just a little embroidery left to do before I can start quilting, but we're all completey sick here, so this has to wait.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt looks so cozy! I've been on a reading kick but am determined to get back into quilt mode this week.
ReplyDeleteReally nice! I love the colors, too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful - I do love a quickie project though too xxx
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, I really like the color combo.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful, I love the color combination and your choice of sashing makes the whole quilt look so soft, cuddly, and inviting.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! I love the colours, they are wonderful. And that diagonal line of quilting through the blocks is just the right addition, it is a lovely quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love this SO much!
ReplyDeleteThis is surely a timeless quilt. I am with you on feeling a bit burned out with quilts - after I finish my City Sampler - I am going to dive into bags, clothing, and other "smaller" projects.
ReplyDeleteLovely quilt colors. 16 patch quilts are a favorite of mine.
ReplyDeleteI think I may have caught your stray quilting mojo because lately I want to start about twice as many projects as normal? Rest assured I did not do it on purpose as I'd be happy to send some back your way. Your quilts are always a pleasure!
ReplyDeleteSvetlanko, nadherny quilt! Moc se ti povedl, opravdu vypada skvele!
ReplyDeleteMej se pekne, Jola
You did it again! Now I want to make this quilt. Happens everytime I see one of your finishes, Svetlana. You put together the best colour palettes and designs. Totally gorgeous finish!
ReplyDeleteLove everything about your 16-patch quilt.
ReplyDeleteLove this - soothing and calm :-)
ReplyDeleteA shame for your readers that you're not feeling the quilting love (because we certainly love your creations!) but you've got to do what makes you happy! I don't normally like 9-/16-patch or granny square quilts but this just works.
ReplyDeleteWith this one I say...please bring me a cup of hot tea!!! It is totally lovely. I have such a long list of projects....need I say more?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! It has a delicate, comforting look to it with those soft colours. Jxo
ReplyDeleteI'm working on tablerunners for gifts at the moment ... lots of fun, but much quicker than a whole quilt :)
ReplyDeleteOh your quilt is beautiful! I'm trying really hard to finish some old unfinished quilts before I let myself start anything new.
ReplyDeleteThis turned out beautifully! And thanks for the link to my Moda Bakeshop post :) I just love how calm the colors are, it looks like a great quilt to snuggle up with :)
ReplyDeleteWell, you know, there's a limit on how many quilts one can use at any one time, you just need to work in cycles :o) Love how this one turned out though!
ReplyDeleteThis is soooo beautiful, and I like how it's kind of masculine, too. I just saw this quilt recently:

and now I think making this quilt has to be in my future.
The Kona Ash is a perfect sashing material and the quilt has a low volume feel to me for some reason. Very nice finish!!!!
Lovely colours Svetlana. Such a simple pattern but so effective. I would be very happy to own this quilt!
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful, I am a sucker for simple patchwork. Kona ash is by far my favorite neutral color.
ReplyDeleteI love thiS! I have the 16 patches finished, but didn't like it. I think you're quilt has just breathed new light into mine!
ReplyDeleteDo you have directions for making this quilt? It is something I would like to make for my oldest grandson.
