sunset

Have you hear of "painting with fabric"? That's the technique Jennifer Sampou used to make her fantastic quilt Orbit featured in We love Color book. As soon as I sew her quilt, I knew I wanted to make one, too.

I named my quilt Sunset . Just like in the book, I used only Kona solids to make this mini. I used white, ivory, snow, sky, ash, and stone for the background, and black, red, turqouise, white, corn, tangerine, and azure for the sun.

"Painting with fabric" is a lot of fun and I'm totally in love with the finished effect. So organic, and unscripted, just lovely.

I even love how the back looks, this kind of  heavy quilting is definitely something I want to try again. Which reminds me, I'd really love to make a whole cloth quilt with some fun quilting. That will have to wait, though. Way too many things going on right now.

Hope you all have a wonderful Monday. Svetlana

  11. Wow. That is fabulous. It actually caught my eye as a teeny-tiny postage stamp-sized image in your mosaic for the Pillow talk swap 8. so I clicked through to see detail. Really beautiful and original.
