on merging fabric and crochet

Happy Monday, friends!

I hope you all had a great weekend. Ours was spent mostly playing on the beach, sleeping in a tent, eating tons of s' mores and having fun.

As you can imagine, there was not any sewing done over the weekend. It was actually a pretty nice break, no sewing, no computer (yeah, a very low tech trip) but now I'm excited to jump back in. Well, right after I finish tons of laundry and manage to "de-sand" our belongings.

In the meantime, I wanted to share a few pictures of my newest obsession. I've been trying to merge sewing and crochet into some fun projects. I did not have that much success yet, there was a lot more undoing than crocheting itself. But, I finally managed to crochet a pretty decent trim on this pillow. I used this tutorial.

What really got me started was this fusion blanket and Corey's crochet along. Even though I bought most of my supplies already, I'm just not sure if working on this blanket is for me. The reason?

These are my two tryout blocks. The second one is definitely a lot better looking than the first one, but I still have to work out my stitches so they lay nice and flat. It will definitely take some time before I have it all figured out and I might not want to put any more time into it right now. I'll see.

What have you been up to? Any new projects?
