on my design wall...

Hi everyone!!!

I am soooooo excited to say that I have my very own, big, giant, functioning design wall. You see, I don't have a sewing room. I do all my sewing in our family room / dining room / TV room. We spend so much time in that room, playing games, doing homework, eating dinners, entertaining, ..... I just could not imagine wrapping one of the walls in batting and being OK with that.

Then I found instructions for making a portable design wall using insulation sheets that you can buy at a home improvement store and attach batting to them. This is the insulation sheet I bought - it's 2" thick and I like how stable it is. I wrapped batting around it and found a place for it thinking that I'd be moving it to our garage after every sewing session. And you know what ?!?! my husband actually likes it where it is, he says it makes our house look more artsy, so I don't have to move it at all. This is where it's going to live from now on. Oh, I do put away the ironing board and iron, though. Keeping them out would be just too much.

Getting back to what's on my design wall, can you see the theme going on there? Lots of Kona Ash and paper piecing. I wanted to take more pictures of my sewing space and projects I'm working on this morning and this is what I got.

My camera decided to go dark on me and turns even the brightest light into this shadowy dusk. No fun at all. Well, I'm off to get some sewing done so I have lots of projects to photograph when my new camera arrives. If you have any questions on how to make a design wall like the one I made, just let me know.

Have a great rest of the weekend, Svetlana.
